The agreement between you and Ullmanac when you use Dossier. We've written it to be readable — but it's a real legal document, so please read it before sending us a task.
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of Dossier (the "Service"), operated by Ullmanac ("Ullmanac," "we," "us," or "our"). By emailing us a task, submitting data, creating an account, making a payment, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms, and "you" refers to that entity. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated where reasonable, and your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Dossier is an AI-assisted knowledge-work service. You send a task or your data to hello@joindossier.com, and we use AI systems — with human oversight where appropriate — to produce finished deliverables such as spreadsheets, dashboards, decks, documents, and research briefs, typically delivered back to you by email within approximately one hour, though timing varies by complexity.
You may request work as a one-off job or as part of a recurring subscription. Before payment, you generally receive a free, watermarked, view-only preview of your deliverable; the clean, editable file is unlocked upon payment. See the preview terms below.
Dossier is an early-stage, pre-revenue product under active development. Features, turnaround times, pricing, and availability may change, and the Service may occasionally be unavailable or interrupted.
Deliverables produced by Dossier are intended to inform your decisions, not to make them for you. They are generated using AI systems, which can make mistakes, omit context, or produce information that is incomplete, outdated, or incorrect.
Dossier deliverables are not professional, financial, legal, tax, medical, accounting, or investment advice, and do not create any professional or fiduciary relationship. You should independently verify any facts, figures, calculations, and conclusions before relying on them — and you should consult a qualified professional before making any material decision.
You are solely responsible for reviewing each deliverable and for any decision you make or action you take based on it. We do not warrant that any deliverable is accurate, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose.
You can use the Service simply by emailing us, and some features may require an account or a billing relationship managed through our payment processor. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for all activity that occurs under your email address or account.
Keep your account credentials and your billing details confidential, and notify us promptly at hello@joindossier.com if you suspect unauthorized use. We are not liable for losses arising from your failure to safeguard your account or from your sharing of access with others.
The Service is offered through a small set of flat-priced options. We will tell you the applicable price before charging, and you may review a watermarked preview of a deliverable before the clean file is unlocked.
Current pricing and plan details are described on our pricing page and may change over time; changes will not retroactively increase the price of a purchase you have already made or the founding rate of a continuously active subscription.
Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. By making a purchase, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your selected payment method for the amounts due, including one-time purchases, subscriptions, and applicable taxes.
Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You may cancel a subscription as described in the termination section; cancellation stops future renewals but, except as required by law or stated in the rerun & refund policy, does not retroactively refund amounts already charged. You are responsible for any taxes associated with your use of the Service other than taxes on our net income. Your payment information is handled by Stripe in accordance with Stripe's own terms and policies; we do not store full payment card details ourselves.
Because you can review a free preview before paying, you should rarely be surprised by a deliverable. As a backstop, if a paid deliverable misses the agreed brief, you are entitled to one free rerun: reply to the delivery email, tell us specifically what was off relative to what was agreed, and we will redo the work at no additional charge.
The free rerun applies to a deliverable that materially fails to meet the scope you agreed to before the work began. It does not cover new or expanded requirements, scope changes, a change of mind after delivery, or dissatisfaction unrelated to the agreed brief — those may be handled as a new job. Except for the rerun remedy above, where required by applicable law, or where we choose to offer one at our discretion, fees are generally non-refundable. We are early, and we would genuinely rather get your deliverable right than win an argument.
You own the finished deliverables we create for you. Upon full payment for a given job, we assign to you all rights we hold in that specific deliverable, so you may use, edit, distribute, and commercialize it freely.
Your input data. You retain all rights to the data, materials, and content you submit ("Input Data"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, store, process, and adapt your Input Data solely to produce and deliver your requested deliverables and to provide and support the Service. We claim no ownership of your Input Data or of your finished outputs.
Our platform. Ullmanac and Dossier retain all rights in the Service itself — our software, systems, methods, prompts, templates, designs, brand, and underlying technology. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of that platform to you. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or resell the Service itself.
Responsibility for inputs. You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit your Input Data and to have it processed as described, and that doing so does not infringe the rights of any third party.
We treat the data and materials you send as confidential. We use them only to produce your deliverables and to operate, secure, and improve the Service, and we do not sell your data. We limit access to those who need it to do the work, and we ask that you send only what a job requires and redact anything you do not wish to share.
We may disclose information where required by law, to comply with valid legal process, or to protect our rights, users, or the public. As an early-stage product, our formal security and compliance controls are still maturing, and we will be straight with you about where things stand. For current details on how we handle your information, see our privacy policy, or contact hello@joindossier.com.
You agree to use the Service lawfully and responsibly. You may not use the Service to:
We may decline, pause, or remove any request, and suspend or terminate access, if we reasonably believe these rules have been violated.
Watermarked previews and sample deliverables are provided for evaluation only. A preview is a view-only representation of your deliverable, intended so you can assess the work before paying. It is not licensed for production, commercial, or distribution use.
You agree not to extract, de-watermark, scrape, screenshot-reconstruct, or otherwise attempt to obtain or use the underlying editable content of a preview without paying to unlock it. Doing so violates these Terms and our rights. The clean, usable deliverable — and your ownership of it under the intellectual property section — exists only once the corresponding job is paid for. Any example deliverables shown on our website are illustrative samples and do not represent any real customer's confidential data unless explicitly stated.
The Service and all deliverables are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that any deliverable will be accurate, complete, current, or meet your expectations. As reflected in the accuracy disclaimer, AI-generated output can be wrong, and you are responsible for verifying it before relying on it. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these may not apply to you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will Ullmanac, its affiliates, or their respective officers, employees, contractors, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to us for the Service in the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100). These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability and form the basis of the bargain between us. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Ullmanac and its affiliates and their respective officers, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your Input Data or your use of the deliverables; (b) your violation of these Terms or of any law; (c) your infringement or misappropriation of any third party's rights; or (d) decisions or actions you take based on a deliverable. We may, at our option, assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, in which case you agree to cooperate with us.
You may stop using the Service at any time, and you may cancel a subscription to prevent future renewals by contacting hello@joindossier.com (or via any self-service controls we provide). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if your use poses a risk to us or others, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive — including ownership, accuracy and warranty disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive termination.
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service will be governed by the laws of [Governing jurisdiction — to be set with counsel], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the exclusive venue for disputes will be the courts located in [Venue — to be set with counsel].
The governing law and venue above are intentionally left as placeholders to be finalized with legal counsel before these Terms are relied upon. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Dossier is a product of Ullmanac, the holding company that builds and operates it. References to "Dossier, by Ullmanac" indicate that Ullmanac stands behind the Service. These Terms constitute the agreement between you and Ullmanac with respect to the Service and, together with any policies referenced here (such as our privacy policy), supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
